Why do I boot only a black screen?

When I turn on my computer I can hear the windows music

that signals loading. At best I get only the black screen with

the OSD icons.

When I hook the same monitor to anotherr tower it works,OK.

Sounds like your video card is having ptoblems Try replacing the video card and if the video card is built into the motherboard you are going to have to get a new motherboard that is compatible with your current processor and ram, however the only problem is that this make and model of processor and type of ram is not commonly sold You might have to replace most of the parts in your tower including the tower itself
