How can I get rid of all those pesky startup icons at the bottom of my screen. My system loads all these annoying things like messager, etc.

Thanks.

Dan

The area at the bottom of your screen your referring to is the system tray. The System Tray is full of icons that represent programs that can either be started quickly or are running in the background.Often programs will put applets into the System Tray during installation.

To remove these your can do one of two things You can right click on the particular icon that you do not want starting with windows and uncheck either disable upon start up or start when windows starts ( Note there is many variations of these startup options.)

The other place to check is your StartUp menu This is a folder that contains applets that start when you boot Windows

The folder can be found in C:\WINDOWS\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp or C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\programs\StartUp

To stop these programs from launching and appearing in your System Tray on Windows start up simply delete the icons in this folder
