When I boot up the computer, a box comes up telling me I need to insert a CD to reconfigure? Earthlink's Total Access program. When I try to cancel it more boxes come up telling me to wait until they search the internet for the data. I have to cancel all these too, and eventually a windows installer box comes up, and I cancel that and it's over.

But then I can never just shut the computer down, it has to close down these programs first, unless I click End Now.

I cancelled my Earthlink Dial up subscription in March. I deleted everything on my hard drive related to Earthlink and Total Access, except for one, which my computer won't let me delete.

Any assistance would be most welcome.

Thanks, Bob

If the popup happens when your computer boots the first thing I would try is going the the start menu then, selecting run In the run box, type "msconfig" no quotes Then click the startup tab which will show everything that starts when your computer boots Look for the Earthlink file and uncheck it By doing this when you boot next you should be able to delete that one file too I hope this helps.
