First, go to the Start button, Settings, then Control Panel Double-click the add/remove programs icon Click the tab for Windows Setup.
Highlight the accessories field then click details At the bottom of this list should be the wordpad program If wordpad is unchecked click the box to its left and check it Hit apply then restart the machine.
If it is currently checked, uncheck it, hit apply and restart your machine.
After your machine reboots go back into the control panel and the add/remove programs feature.
Go back into accessories and recheck the field for wordpad Hit apply again; you might need the windows cd for this.
After all this go to the Start Button, Programs, Accessories and then run wordpad.
If wordpad still doesen't open you have other problems with your machine that need attention.
