How cna i change an IRQ port to another IRQ port number without taking my computer apart?
This question was answered on September 4, 2000. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.
IRQ ports can be dynamically assigned with Windows.
follow these steps:
click the start button,
select settings,
select control panel,
double click the system icon,
click the device manager tab.
Find the device you wish to change the settings for, then select it:
Click the properties tab,
Click the resources tab,
There should be a check mark next to a comment that says
"use automatic settings".
Take that check mark away.
Double click the IRQ setting, and then
select a new one which does not indicated in
the box below that it will be causing hardware conflicts
with another device.
Be warned that changing IRQ settings can cause major problems
with hardware conflicts, and should only be done if you are
trying to resolve a current conflict.
Good luck
