I have macafee clinic installed on my computer with activeshield and was given a Norton antivirus program with the computer package I bought. Is one better than the other?

Hello and thank you for sending your question.

Both MacAfee (Network Associates) and Norton (Symantec) are good virus protection programs They both are recommended Each program has their own proprietary codes and features used to combat viruses that are out there.

From the information that you gave us, you were not very specific on the versions of each programs I suggest that you download the latest update For Norton, Norton Antivirus 2001 (Windows 9x/Me) V7.00.51F and for MacAfee, MacAfee VirusScan for Windows 95/98 V5.01.

Using either one, will give you virus protection that you need for your computer.

I have always used Norton and it has been good to me so far, but I have no comment if one is better than the other.

If you would like more information on both programs, you can visit their website:

Good luck,
