How can I change my colors to 256?

I am unable to change the amount of colours displayed at present I am only allowed to use 2 or 16 and would like to change this to 256 I have tried through control panel with no joy what am I doing wrong.

Hello and thank you for your question.

It sounds like you are using a standard VGA driver instead of the correct driver for your video card To find out which driver you have you can go to: Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display, Settings, Advanced, Adapter If this is the case and you cannot locate the driver disk for your video card you can go to http://www.diamondmm.com and download the correct driver for your card After new driver is installed you can then make whatever changes you want

They will have instructions at the website for installation.

P.S another way to change display colors is to: Right-Click on your desktop, and then on the drop down menu click on Properties.
