Trying to Install a OEM 40GB Samsung HDD. At first it showed up as 38.9GB (understandable). After a problem with copying old drive to this one and having to abort copy proceedure,...suddenly I lost 6.5 GB's, Drive now only recognized as 32.4GB. Original hook-up showed much more, how can paramiters change so drastically. No, absolutely NO changes make to programs, Bios, or OS.

Hello and thank you for your question,

Was the drive that you were copying somewhere around 6.5GB's ? If so, the utility you were using probably sectioned off the 6.4GB's when you were copying, but then when it didn't finish it just disappeared into cyber space Try running a full scandisk, and maybe a defrag This might be able to organize your freespace and put it back where it needs to go.

Good luck, if this does'nt help re-submit question.
