This would depend on a number of things Did you originally have Windows 98se and upgrade to ME? If so, during installation of the upgrade a set of backup files is created to allow for the uninstallation of the the upgrade In order to uninstall, go to start, settings, control panel, click add/remove programs, and listed in the following screen will be all programs currently installed that are available for unistallation Select Windows ME and click uninstall, following the directions to complete the process

Now, that being said, you will probably find that it is more effective to save the files that you want to disk and start from scratch, by reinstalling Windows 98se During the process of uninstallation it is common that files are lost and numerous problems can arise, so you may want save yourself the headaches and just use a bootable floppy complete with mscdex.exe (to allow for using your cd-rom, to first reformat your hard drive, partition it, and install the cd-rom driver Then when your cd-rom is accessable complete the installation with the disk.

If you never had 98 you will of course have to purchase the complete installation cd-rom, NOT THE UPGRADE The upgrade is only used to update and reconfigure older microsoft operating systems and is by itself insuffiecient to install the operating system.

thank you for your question...
