What's that noise from my floppy drive?

My computer has recently started making a very loud, high pitched sound about every 15 minutes or so. It lasts for about 5 minutes at a time. When I put my ear to the computer, it sounds like it's coming from somewhere near my floppy drive. Also, when it makes the sound, the green power light flashes on and off. I don't know what to do!! Thank you very much.

Eventually, even a sturdy floppy drive or hard drive may fail Because you witnessed the power light flashing when the sound happens, I would think that what you have is a failing floppy drive The neat thing about floppy drives is they don't cost a whole lot any more From the larger electronics retailers I've seen them for $20 or so They really aren't to hard to install either, but if you feel uncomfortable doing that, I'm sure there is a computer technician near you that wouldn't mind doing it for you.

Thank you for your question...
