Windows tip - Free hard drive space by resizing your Recycle Bin!
This question was answered on May 25, 2001. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.
The default setting for the Windows Recycle Bin is 10% of the disk space This means if you have a 30 GB hard drive, up to 3GB of the space is set aside for the Recycle Bin before it will start automatically deleting files (oldest first).
You can easily reduce this from 10% to 5% and potentially save 1.5GB in the process!
To modify this setting, simply right-click on the Recycle Bin icon, then select Properties Adjust the slide bar to the desired percentage and say OK!
