I love you e-mail virus

I just received a I love you..e-mail..I thought at one time this was a virus..is it or can I open it..it came from i love [email protected] you

Do you know the person that sent it to you? If not, my suggestion would be NOT to open it Anything you receive over the internet could be a virus or have virus attached to it
