New PC-installed WIN98Se--Setup worked fine from my WIN startup disk in drive A. However, now when I try to access a file on drive A, I get a message telling me the disk in drive A is not formatted, and asking me if I want to format it.

When I check the floppy under system properties, it is fine (no flags or anything).

Thank you for your help.

Hello and thank you for your question.

I have a question for you, are you talking about a particular disk or any disk? If it's a particular disk that you get this message with and other disks work fine, then the floppy in question is defective If you get this message with all disks and assuming that you have not went into the BIOS and made adjustments to the floppy drive settings, then I would suspect the drive is bad and needs replaced They are very inexpensive.

Good luck!!
