Hi! My question is regarding a Solaris 8 install on my system, and I really hope you can answer it!

I turn off my computer and put the Solaris boot disk in the A drive, and after it loads, I get an error "ACPI tables not in Reclaim Memory" and I can't get past it. I tried booting with the CD-ROM as well, and get the exact same problem.

It is an "Intel Platform" version of the OS.

Any idea what's causing this problem or how it might be fixed? Please!!

Thanks!!!!!

Hi Jordan,

The ACPI(Advance Configuration and Power Interface) was developed by Intel,Microsoft and Toshiba to control power on a notebook and to power up devices connected to a notebook. In order for the ACPI to work the BIOS has to be compatible. After looking at your profile I see that you have a DELL which in turn will not be compatible because the Solaris 8 is looking for the ACPI which will not work with your computer.
