I have a IBM 300gl it had Windows NT I need to put 98 on it. I am trying to reformat the hard drive. I put in the boot disk and at the A: prompt I type "fdisk" and it tells me

"no fixed disk present" but the unit is there and I hear it spinning. In the setup menu it says that there is no ide hard drive installed. I have no idea what happened. The computer was working fine until I tried reformatting it.

HELP please.

Hi,[email protected]

After doing the research I have found that fdisk will not work on NT with NTFS,which is what the IBM 300gl came with on the Maxtor ATA66 hard drive. The way to fdisk your hard drive is by clicking on the start button, go to programs, select Administative tools, then select Administrator to run the tool. From there just follow the steps Good luck.
