When I let my Window scheduled maintenence run I often get A Message stating that the machine was unable to complete the operation because of lack of capacity due to too many programs "Open' or "Running". I have two questions:

1. How do I determine which programs are running or open?

2 How do I stop them? How do I eliminate them?

I emptied my recyle basket. To the best of my knowledge no programs other than my virus program was running. The problem seems to be resolved when I reboot my machine. Can you help me? Thanking you in advance-

Hello,

In answer to your 2 questions:

Windows Startup - The most common location that programs will be placed to load automatically is the Windows Startup To check to see if the program you wish to be removed is loading in the Windows Startup follow the below steps

Click Start / Programs / Startup, if under startup you see the program you wish to remove and you have Windows 98 or Windows 98 SE you can right click the program and click delete to delete this automatically from your startup menu

If you see the program you wish to remove however have Windows 95 click Start / Settings / Taskbar & Startup Menu / click the Start Menu programs tab / click the Advanced button / click the Programs folder / click the Startup folder / highlight the program you do not wish to startup automatically and press delete on your keyboard

Restart your computer and this should take care of the programs that you have deleted from automatically starting.

Thanks for your question.
