Where are e-mail files stored by Outlook Express? I want to scan for viruses before opening and don't want to scan the entire hard drive each time.

Thanks,

Tom

Where Outlook Express stores your e-mail files will depend on which version you are using I can show you a way to find out where your files are stored After launching Outlook Express, go to the Inbox folder and check to make sure these are your e-mails (this assures that Outlook Express is opened with your email account) Now click on Tools (on the Menu Bar), then click Options..., a new window will open with several tabs Click on the Maintenance tab, on the Maintenance page, about halfway down the page you will see two buttons, if you click on the Store Folder.. button, it will show you the location of your e-mail files and give you the option of changing the location I would advise not changing the default location of these files, but it will show you the path to your files.

For more information about checking your e-mail for viruses, you can go to http://support.microsoft.com and search their database.
