Why does my CD-ROM tray stay open?

I have an emachine etower 466id and when I place a CD in the tray and close it it won't stay closed. What could be the problem?

Unfortunately you didn't state if this problem just started or if you have had this problem since you purchased the system Did you possibly change any of the settings or wiring of the CD-ROM? If not, and the problem just started recently, I would assume that your CD-ROM is bad and needs replacing
