Why does my homepage keep resetting?

Whenever I open up my Windows Explorer, it keeps bringing me to one site despite the constant change to the homepage and also places a banner on the bottom of the explorer page (that I cannot get rid of easily). The only way I am able to eliminate the banner is to go to Task Manager and end that particular task. The site I am always sent to is:

http://www.gohip.com/browser/?pid=AAAAAAAAAAAAGL&ence=&pnce=&sid=1692CC43D75641F4B2572E258B761316&cat=0&v=75&co=&hp=https%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Epica%2Earmy%2Emil%2FPicaweb

I would like to know how to prevent this from popping up automatically and to prevent this from happening in the future.

Many thanks for the wonderful work that you are doing.

One of three things is happening One possibility is that you are visiting a site that is changing your homepage to one of their advertiser's sites This is somewhat common and very annoying The best solution is to stop visiting that site.

Another possibility is that a small program has been placed on your hard drive that is occasionally resetting this as your homepage In this case, I would first go to your "control panel" and into "add/remove programs" to see if any programs are listed that might be causing it If you see one that is suspicious you can click on it and click "remove" If that does not work, I would do a search for the file that is causing it Go to your "start menu" and then "search" your hard drive for a file called "go hip" or "hip" or some other name that might bring it up Keep in mind that just deleting files and programs can cause problems when you don't know what they are So you will need to be cautious and not delete files just because you don't know what they do
