Why does my PC reboot and make noises?

I have a emachine: etower 466i. My computer has started turning off randomly. Its only been happening for a couple months now. And to restart my computer I have to either unplug the power cord from the computer or turn the power off then back on on my surge protector. If I don't do that and I try to turn on my computer nothing happens. I emailed troubleshooting from the help on the emachine website and he told me some stuff about deleting ghost devices or something. It didn't work. I thought it might be the fan or something but the fan is still working. The place where the power cord plugs into the back of the computer is kind of making some noise. I'm not sure if there is a fan in that box but it sounds like there is and it sounds like it is...rev-ing.

It sounds like your power supply may be going bad I would try replacing it, or if it is under warranty, having it replaced.

If you are going to do it yourself, be sure to get one that will fit your case correctly and will have enough watts to run everything you have plugged into it
