I am trying to run ScanDisk and the following message comes up: ScanDisk has restarted 10 times because Windows or another program has been writing to this drive. Do you want to continue seeing this message?

I have checked everything I know and I don't see where there are programs running.

What do I need to do?

Sometimes programs are running in the background This is what I suggest:

Shutdown your computer completely, let it sit for a minuted or so, then start it up again and don't open or launch any programs Allow Windows and any other programs to load COMPLETELY before doing anything After everything loads, start by disabling your screensaver by choosing 'none' for screensaver Then, in your system tray, beside your time display, right-click on each icon and disable, end, exit, or shutdown each program that is running As a last precaution, do Ctrl-Alt-Del to open Task Manager If you recognize any programs, then highlight the program name and End Task If you don't recognize anything that is running, then just Cancel out of Task Manger ScanDisk should run properly now.
