I am having a hard time reaching a website. Is this most likely a problem with the site or my computer? I can reach other sites fine.

Thanks.

Pat

From your profile, I found that your computer has a Pentium III processor and you are connecting to the Internet through a 56K modem

Depending on the graphics and design involved in a particular website, some can take longer than others to open As technology evolves and becomes more advanced, and used in various websites, we need tools that are matched to that technology used by those websites Your processor and/or modem may be under powered for this site, or you may not have the right video drivers and/or software installed on your computer to view the site.

Sometimes websites are 'down' too Webmasters will block all access to the website, so they can update information or make other changes to the site If this is the case, you will usually get a message saying that the site is under construction Sometimes I think they just plain forget to set this message up, so then you just get an error message, or you 'time-out'.

Sometimes it helps to enter the website through the homepage (This would be the web address, before any slashes or symbols) If you continue to have problems with particular websites, note the address your are trying to use If you can access the website on another computer, then send a message to the Webmaster or Site Administrator explaining your problem, and ask if they have any suggestions They are usually more than willing to help people access their website!

You didn't mention any other problems with your computer, but I did see that you also have the Windows 98 Operating System This version of Windows needs to be shut down regularly, especially if any changes are made Windows 98 basically needs to reload and make a 'fresh start' once in awhile It's good practice to shut your computer down when you go to bed or when you go to work (This is not a solution, it's just a suggestion).

If these suggestions do not help you, please feel free to resubmit with more details regarding your problem If you are getting error messages, copy them or write down what they say, so you can supply that information as well
