Hello. I'm in the market for a new computer. At this point, it looks like I'll have one built as opposed to buying one off the shelf. I'm torn between whether or not to install an AMD Athlon or Pentium 4. Outside of AMD's being a little cheaper in price, what do you recommend? Thanks!

Hi,

The Intel family of chips dominates the consumer processor market with AMD coming in second Intel chips generally are the most powerful and the most widely supported by motherboard manufacturers AMD has created niches in the market by creating processors that are geared toward specific markets such as the gaming market For general user's I would go with the Intel processor due to compatibility and performance, but if you are a hardcore gamer and experienced with computer hardware then the AMD would be for you.
