Need make and models of tv camcorder etc

hi, i am wondering if it is possible to connect an analogue video camcorder up to my computer via a TV or otherwise. I would like to be able to record clips etc and store them in a video format, but am not sure what software/hardware is required or even if it is possible without a digital video camera. i searched the questions but the closest thing i could find was connecting a computer to a TV, not vice versa. There are special video cards you can purchase, such as a Raedeon All in Wonder card that will allow you to directly connect your camcorder to the computer
