Spontaneous Reset using Internet

my problem is that my computer likes to reset on the internet. It may happen 5 min after i connect. it sometimes freezes as well. i looked at possible solutions. my computer was recently upgraded with a 40 gig. i heard that hard drive or ram may cause it. it did not do this before the new hard drive. but before i got the new one, i had a system config error which was checked out and corrected.
