i am a modoem installer and sometimes i come across a problem with, it seems like more hp bound, but it happened on a dell the other day also. I put in the nic card and get a good ip once the modem is installed. The problem is that i can not get a ping out of the modem and it comes up with a error message that says: whitehouse.gov or yahoo.com, a simple domain could not be reached due to dns server. Can you please help........

for some reason the DNS server your trying to access isn't recognizing your IP adress of your computer Just as a refresher, a DNS Server resolves domain names to ip adresses You need to get a new IP adress for your computer.Another possibility might be that the DNS server is down that you are trying to access??I pinged www.whitehouse.com and got an IP adress 209.67.27.248??
