We up-graded the hp to a new re-writeable cd. My computer will not recognize the d drive, so I can download the programs for a new digital camera(Cannon powershot A40) Thanks! Rosemary

Hi,

There are two things you can try:

1 make sure all physical connections are properly hooked up.

2 does the BIOS recognize the new drive

1 make sure the Cd drive ID is connected to the IDE 0/1 and not

the sound card.

2 try doing a search on google.com for universal ATAPI/IDE CD

rom driver"you will get a few different ones to choose from They

are just an executable DOS program that implements a driver and

adds the line in your autoexec file.
