Can I fix software conflicts?

I have AOL 7.0, Netscape 7.0 and IE5.0. My computer "freezes" almost every time my wife uses AOL. Aren't there software programs that catch conflicts? Which one would you recommend?

Where AOL is concerned, most service entities toss up their hands in disgust I have heard a couple of Microsoft's otherwise quite pleasant phone support people bristle in disgust at the mere mention of AOL.

AOL's software is so far reaching in the way it modifies and changes what seems like everything on your PC, along with the longstanding war involving Netware and Internet Explorer, each trying to make the other browser look bad, there is not a lot you can really do.

Compaq uses it's own version of software install disks which cause even more problems.

So, you question is, "Is there software which catches conflicts?" By this, I assume you mean "Fixes" conflicts.

So many conflicts can occur, especially where some companies insist on serving their own interests at the expense of end users, that I cannot recommend a software package which I have any degree of confidence can really approach your problem.

First, I'd call AOL See what they have to say Be kind It's not the poor technician's fault these problems are occuring

Having gone through that bit of frustration, I'd format the hard drive and reinstall everything on the PC Don't forget to save your data Don't use AOL, or even reinstall it Try your very best to install only one browser

This may seem arduous, but you will be glad you did it.
