Why are my files disappearing?

Hello. My problem is that lately, some programs which I had installed on my computer, such as web plug-ins like Shockwave, seem to have disappeared. Also, web page windows occasionally close as soon as they load (This usually happens when they say "about:blank" at the top). Some .DLL files seem to have disappeared as well. I have not deleted any of these files, at least not knowingly. Any help would be appreciated.

This does not describe typical problems, unless something disasterous is about to happen.

Most importantly, back up all your data to other disks.

Looking at your profile, your hard drive has obviously been around a while Reinstall on a new, larger hard drive It's the only practical, efficient way to deal with problems such as this.

Also run an up to date antivirus ASAP
