Why you should reinstall win XP and then use a password?

I am having a probelm when i click onto any program i have installed on my computer it comes up with this error 'windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.'

I have windows xp installed and only have one user which is me and don't have any password to log on with, i cannot get onto the user accounts as it comes up with same problem. i can access microsoft outlook, msn messenger and internet i don't see what has happened as i turned on my computer this morning and clicked on media player and it came up with this problem and realised it was with all my programs.

i would be very grateful if you could help me a.s.a.p

The best thing for you to do is uninstall winodws and then reinstall windows and update all the drivers this should help.also create a password this help when login on and for signing on line.
