I am trying to delete several image files (PCX)

I am trying to delete several image files (PCX) but my system slows down dramatically and then shows an error that says I am trying to delete a shared file. How do I find what this is shared with so I can delete these files? Thank you!

You can right click the folder that has the file that you are trying to delete and click on the Sharing Tab under Network Sharing and Security check if the folder is being shared if it is un share the folder
