Why won't my computer read my CD-Rom, and what drive should it be in?

I chose other to the questions I didnt know the answer to. My cd-rom no longer works. My daughter can no longer play her cd-rom games. It says retry and then a red X appears and says d drive is not a accessible and the device is not ready. I dont even no what drive it should be in I tried c drvie and it says the same thing . It is blank where is says label under the cd rom drive should that be blank? Please help me I've spent hours trying everything to fix it I dont know what I did but for some reason it no longer recongnizes my cd- rom I have a Proteva computer and I have never had any problems I think I changed something I shoud not have, because before I changed some settings it worked fine but I dont know what I did wrong- Thanks in advance for your time :)

CD-rom Needs to in your d: drive Try re-installing your drivers to see if it works.
