After using the system recovery Cd the computer hangs upon shutdown, also when trying to run a program or explore a cd it hangs up and does nothing at all. It just sits there and does absolutely nothing at all for as long as u leave it on.

Thanks

Trevor Bolt

Try by pressing alt-ctrl-del and see what is running in the background Something isn't shutting down Anti-virus programs often cause this hang up If you are running AV program, uninstall it, reboot and reinstall

Also Check to see if your soundcard working properly? I had this problem becuase my soundcard wasn't properly installed (I hadn't noticed as I didn't have any speakers plugged in!)

It turned out that it was hanging when attempting to play the shutdown sound It'll only take a second to turn off the shutdown sound and double-check, so even if you think it's unlikely it's probably worth a try
