I believe that you covered hidden cookies or imbedded software that keeps track of internet surfing and/or user preferences. They are downloaded when a person visits various sites. Is there a program that will search my hard drive and identify or remove these hidden programs?

This question was answered on March 9, 2003. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.
Please click on START, select SETTINGS, then click on CONTROL PANEL Double click on the INTERNET OPTION icon, then click on the SETTINGS button Click on the VIEW FILES button.
There you will see what was seen or downloaded.
if you want to delete:
Please click on START, select SETTINGS, then click on CONTROL PANEL Double click on the INTERNET (it may be shown as Internet Options) icon, then click on the SETTINGS button.
On the window that appears click on the VIEW FILES button Click on EDIT at the top of that window, then click on SELECT ALL Press the DELETE key on your keyboard, then click on YES to delete the cookies.
that appears click on the VIEW FILES button.
