How to check files?

Question

I believe that you covered hidden cookies or imbedded software that keeps track of internet surfing and/or user preferences. They are downloaded when a person visits various sites. Is there a program that will search my hard drive and identify or remove these hidden programs?

Thanks,

George Robb
