I have an HP computer, model 520W. Some of the info I filled in on your information request may not be correct. ie., soundcard etc. Anyway, I was fooling around with start up programs to see what I might get along without. I can't remember whether I clicked on anything to change things or not, but shortly thereafter my computer would not shut OFF automatically. I can click the shut-off icon and the computer will shut Windows down and the screen will go blank and dark for about 4 or 5 seconds and the it will start to reboot. It will not stay off! Did I seriously wound my machine? I am using the on-off on the computer and turning off just as the machine goes blank.

What now?

Dont worry you can get it all back to the way you had it go to start, run, and type in MSCONFIG, a window will pop up, on the general tab you will see a button that says Launch System Restore click on it and then just pick a date before you played with the settings, and follow the steps afte that reboot your computer to rest the old settings.
