I caught part of Saturday's radio show about erasing hard drive data.

I thought I heard DataDoctors has software to download to do this.

I have 2 old computers with hard drives I wish to erase.

Could you elaborate, I missed some of the discussion regarding this and

recycling old PCs

On your computer to erase the hard drive you put the driver disk in the drive and boot up it asked if you booted from disk and then it will aske you if you want to erase the hard drive Accept (yes).

To be sure that sensative and private files have been removed you need a utility that writes garbage to every cluster several times, formatting wont do if someone has the experience they can recover most of your files You can download such a utility free from www.majorgeeks.com or www.utilitygeek.com you'll know by the name of the file which it is, look under drive utilities.
