Why I get page not found and system locks up?

first this gateway was purchased 1 year ago and already has had to have the mother board replaced(under warranty)

now the problem: I keep getting the page http page not found and then I seem to loose my browser and then the system locks up.

I have upgraded to aol 8.0 and this still keeps happening, I have been on the tele. with AOL not help and also on the tele. with gateway nothing is helping. Is there a failure somewhere?

Try this and lets see what happens

Please click on START, select SETTINGS, then click on CONTROL PANEL Double click on the INTERNET (it may be shown as Internet Options) icon, then click on the SETTINGS button.

On the window that appears click on the VIEW FILES button Click on EDIT at the top of that window, then click on SELECT ALL Press the DELETE key on your keyboard, then click on YES to delete the cookies.

Steps to delete Cache :

Click on START, select Programs, select America Online, then click on AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION The AOL system information tool will open This will take a moment as the tool gathers information about your computer.

When the AOL System Information tool is open, click on the UTILITIES tab Click on CLEAR BROWSER CACHE until the Current Cache Size reads 0Kb Click on CLOSE.

Steps to Repair Internet Explorer

Since we are using Internet Explorer right now

Please click on Start

Click on settings

Click on control Panel

Click on Add/Remove Programs

Select Microsoft Internet Explorer and Tools

Click on add/remove

Then select Repair Internet Explorer

Then click on OK.

Click on Yes.

Click on Yes.

I would also suggest you to upgrade your browser by going to the Keyword : 128 browser.

Delete AOL Adapter

Click on START, select Programs, select America Online, then click on AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION The AOL system information tool will open This will take a moment as the tool gathers information about your computer.

When the AOL System Information tool is open, click on the UTILITIES tab Click on UNINSTALL AOL ADAPTER America Online will update, then you will be prompted to restart the computer.

If you are prompted to insert your Windows CD, insert the CD, then follow the on-screen prompts Click on YES to restart the computer When the computer restarts, launch AOL If you are prompted to restart again, click on Restart Now.

You may be prompted to restart several times Click on Restart Now each time, until AOL launches normally The computer restarts several times to rebuild the AOL Adapter files.

Delete Wanminiport adapter :

Please click on START.....

Then click on Settings....

Click on Control Panel.

Click on System.

Click on DEVICE MANAGER Tab.

Click on Wan Miniport(Atw).

Then click on REMOVE button.

Then click on OK button.

Then restart your computer and it should solve this issue.
