I have just built a brand new system ussing components bought from a leading hardware supplier. I have followed the instructions on the motherboard to the point. When I come to switch on the power button the pc begins to go through the motions of checking cd-rewriter drive, dvd-rom, hard disk and floppy disk and the cpu fan is working but no bios is seen on the monitor. In fact nothing appears on the screen except that from an intial green LED light the orange LEd is seen. The floppy disk LEd also remains lit. What is the problem? could the RAM chip which is 512mb pc133 SDRAM be faulty? Also on pressing power button I hear two 1 second long beeps in consecutive order.

Sounds to me like the CPU is not properly inserted, as the computer would have made beeping noises at you if was Maybe it's not down all the way? Well, I cannot really give you any useful advice as I am not there, but this guy could as he was there: http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

Good luck,
