I have a ScanJet 3400c Hewlitt Packard scanner. I moved my computer and reconnected my scanner using usb hookup. On the scan software which is HP Precision scan LTX. When I do a scan the lamp is supposed to warm up first by going down the scanner bed and hesitating every 30 seconds then I get my preview picture. After that it performs a regular scan. Well my problem is my lamp doesn't go through the warmup and instead it scans regular so what I get is a black picture, or a red picture with white lines. I have tried the hp support sight and I have repowered it. Also I think that I may have used the wrong power module adapter when I first plugged it into the outlet. Do you think this may have done something. I am now using the correct one. Thank you.

With so many "wall wart" power supplies floating around these days, it's easy to get confused I have a whole box of those things, myself, and don't remember where I got half of them.

Assuming nothing about your PC has changed, I would have to guess you zapped your scanner.

I might prove frutful to uninstall, then reinstall the software, but don't expect a lot.

Try the scanner on another system, if you want to be sure Many applications contain scan functions You might not even need your software.

The only other item involved in all this is your USB cable It is always good to have a spare cable around You might get one, but don't be surprised if you eventually wind up with a new scanner and two spare cables, as your new scanner will probably come with yet another cable.
