How do I update Windows 98?

I download the patches from Microsoft. Download goes ok, but will not install. Simply sits and does nothing after the download.

My advice is to carefully read everything on the Windows Update page, then prepare to be confused.

When last I installed those updates (which seem to change every week), I found I needed to download and install two sets of files One is a comprehensive update They must be installed in order It's anything but intuitive which set goes first, but being aware of the situation, I have faith you can try both ways until the updates install

Check to see if there are additional updates, download those, then see if they will install I seem to recall it does take some user interaction to begin the installation, so use caution.
