Why does my CD-ROM drive refuse all CD's?

whenever i try to put any cd in my cd rom drive, it simply ejects the disk. this happend with any cd i try. i think it has to do withsome setting conflict or something......i tried disabling autoinsert but hasnt helped...till some days back , it used to work fine.

Go to your device manager It's under Control Panel, then System Look for yellow and black event markers, or red "X's" It's possible your CD ROM driver is corrupt, but I doubt it.

I had the same problem, and it turned out to be a bad drive Based on my own experience, this is what I would suspect If the drive is still under warranty, call the manufacturer's support line for assistance They have to authorize any return, regardless.

Otherwise, be certain nothing else has been changed within your system If everything looks OK, I would try a new or known-good borrowed drive For that matter, unless it is an esoteric DVD drive of some sort, and especially if it's more than about a year old, I would replace it With today's drive prices being what they are, the things are usually not worth fussing with.
