When starting very slow

when starting very slow, have removed all unnecassery programs with msconfig. there seems to be explorer nt trying to load or is loading when i control alt delete this is the only thing on menue. is this what is slowing computer?? if so how do i delete????

You can press ctrl, alt and delete then click on the Process tab look for the application that is running and Press End Process.
