Why does my computer regonizes the mouse but the mouse dont work?

my Compaq mouse recently became erratic, when I move it sometimes it jumps all over the place and I have a chore trying to pinpoint an item I'm trying to click on.

On a related issue, I had installed a Logitech wireless mouse (usable PS2 or USB). It worked fine for a while then quit, won't even reinstall. The system device info recognizes it, says it is fine, but the cursor wouldn't move at all, I went back to the Compaq mouse. It too worked OK for a while, then became as I stated above.

Help!

Well, it seem that the problem may not be the mouse it could be that the ports where the mouse is connected may not be working properly so you might want to get that checked out and you may want to also check your drivers
