What is a virus?

My computer seems to restat itself without prior notice, i have scanned for viruses and don't know where else to look for the problem, i have also downloaded things from the internet and have now removed them without subsiding the problem. Could you try and point me in the right direction?

The problem is probably a virus Update your Anti Virus protection.
