While trying to download Adobe Acrobat 5.0, I got the following message:
Download cannot continue because of parsing.
What does that mean?

In plain english it means to divide language into small components that can be analyzed Parsing is a very important part of of many computer science disciplines compilers must parse source code to be able to translate it to object code so you must be having an source code problem that's what it means in a nutshell it's a programming issue from site your trying to download it from try another site.
