Did you use a win98 (retoration) boot disk?

If you did , it should have loaded drivers for your CD and it should be working You should be able to drop in the Win98 (retoration) CD, and, at the command prompt type d:\setup (assuming D is the letter of your CD drive) and the setup process should commence.

If you did not have a boot disk, you should obtain one and use it correctly and you will have no problems.

Or

You can insert the win98 (retoration) cd in and startup computer, go into bios and set the first up boot item to be cd-rom, then save and exit, it will boot into menu with option for cd-rom support or no cd rom support, choose cd-rom support and windows98 setup should start

Good tutorial about reinstalling windows - have a read thru it and print it off for reference
