Can't view my screen

I hooked up my computer and turned it on, it powers up but the monitor does not come on. I turn the monitor off and then on again and the green light comes on for 3 seconds and it makes the sound like it is coming on but then the light turns orange and nothing happens.

If the computer starts with no problem try another monitor, chances are that's the problem
