How to disable the dialtone?

when i connect to adsl via bt broadband i sometimes get the message NO DIAL TONE... surely modem does not need a dial tone to connect to adsl! so how can i disable this message and move on

go to start ,settings, control panel, then modem, dial properties and config and diable dial tone.
