You can configure the DNS service to allow dynamic updates Simply right-click the zone in the DNS Tool (Start, Programs, Administrative Tools), and choose Properties On the General tab, click "Yes" in the "Allow dynamic updates" box In order for the server to be updated dynamically, you must also configure the DHCP server for dynamic updates.

Here is how to configure the second piece of the dynamic updates puzzle, configuring the DHCP server to automatically send updates to the DNS database Right-click the DHCP server in the DHCP tool (Start, Programs, Administrative Tools), and choose Properties On the DNS tab, check the box next to "Automatically update DHCP client information in DNS." Then choose whether or not to update the DNS server always, or only if the DHCP client requests it, by checking the appropriate box Then, when a client receives an IP address from the DHCP server, it will also be automatically registered for that IP address in the DNS database
