I am trying to set up an 80 gig Maxtor HD on an AMD 1200 Mhz computer which contains the following:

Abit K7A - Raid (raid is not enabled)

512 MB SDRAM PC 133

Creative 52x CDROM

Pioneer 16x DVD

Plextor 32x CDR?RW

Nvidia Geforce 2 64MB video card

floppy

80 Gig Maxtor HD

Problem: I am unable to install any windows OS on this HD. I tried Windows 98 SE, 2K, XP and I get to where the system is about to start windows (for the last bit of install) and the system freezes - everytime. I called Maxtor to no avail. I ran their diagnostic program which took about 8 hours - it came out clean. I don't know what to do at this point. I did disconnect everything but what I need to set up the system and same thing. I also created boot discs for Win 98 and 2K - same thing. I am unable to create boot discs for XP because I come up with a virtual drive error on my main computer. What can I do??? PLEASE HELP!

Thanks

Try reformating the whole HD and run scandisk and try installing your desired operating system
